The lockdown and subsequent impacts of COVID-19 have hampered many lives and livelihoods across the country. The Ek Soch Foundation worked hard to carry out a few initiatives by distributing food supplies and essential items to daily wage workers and other needy people who were severely affected.
Initially, we conducted a door-to-door survey in one of the colonies of Mathura so that the most deserving and the needy get quick aid. Daily wage earners, micro-entrepreneurs and women were the worst hit as they were the ones who drove the household and its expenses.
We also gave aid to women who worked primarily as housekeepers, cooks and street cleaners, as they had lost their livelihoods entirely during the lockdown. The Ek Soch Foundation also collaborated with the organizations NGYMVS and ‘Strides of Joy’, and arranged food for the stranded migrant labourers who traversed from Delhi NCR to distant locations of UP and Bihar on foot.
In the distant villages of the Govardhan region, the team conducted awareness drives and distributed face masks and soaps for sanitisation.
